Chamakh poised to join Arsenal

05/05/2010 - Bordeaux, France (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Bordeaux's Morocco international striker Marouane Chamakh has again spoken of his excitement at being poised to join Arsenal in the summer.

The 26-year-old will leave the reigning French champions to try his luck in England, with the Gunners expected to win the race for his signature.

Chamakh told L'Equipe: "I am delighted to join the English football atmosphere, it is something amazing.

"I love Arsenal's game. I know I will have to adapt but I know the short passing game with (Bordeaux midfielder) Yoann Gourcuff.

"In February, I made my decision. A departure clause (in a potential new Bordeaux contract) was not logical after refusing Arsenal last summer.

"Arsenal were not alone. There was Liverpool, Tottenham and crazy offers from Russia, but I was only focused on the Premier League.

"I am leaving for a new challenge. At Bordeaux I was the club's child. In London, I won't be a kid anymore."

Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb.
